On Friday 29 April 2022, a team of 35 Barenbrug staff and family members took to the mountains, 75 km west of the Barenbrug New Zealand Office to spend a day with a local organisation assisting with ecological and landscape restoration to control wilding conifers in the South Island of New Zealand.
Following an extended period of Covid related restrictions and lockdowns in New Zealand, it was a great opportunity to work together on a team activity, while helping to enhance the local environment.
This is the second year the team has been involved in the project, which seeks volunteer support to help a community group in controlling wilding conifers (Pinus contorta) a weed tree that is damaging the iconic South Island alpine landscape.
Groups like ours make a significant impact over and above what they would normally be able to achieve and everyone enjoyed hosting a productive day in our spectacular southern alps.
